About Us
where it all began
It all began with my mom, Tish Cox, who learned to sew while spending summers with her fabulously chic grandmother. She always had a knack for it, but for years, she was simply our amazing mom, driving us to figure skating practice and sewing for fun whenever she had the chance.
In 2010, her best friend and my namesake, Kelly Sheridan Montavon, needed a dress for a SCAD event honoring Diane von Furstenberg. My mom made her very first dress, appropriately named "The Kelly."
That night, Zac Posen stopped Aunt Kelly to ask, "Who made your dress?" Her answer was simple: "Tish Cox!" And just like that, it all began.
From our kitchen to Dallas
What started in our kitchen-turned-studio quickly grew into something more. My mom began making dresses for friends around Dallas, and we grew up to the constant sound of her sewing machine. At the time, none of us realized what she was building.
Then, her longtime friend Merry Vose called to say she was opening a boutique on W. Lovers Lane. My mom held a trunk show there and sold over 60 pieces. After sewing nearly 300 garments herself, she knew it was time to find production and officially launch her label.
She's been dressing Dallas ever since, out of her little store with the lavender door. And what started with my mom sewing dresses in our kitchen has now become a family affair, with my parents running the business together.
the perfect tank
Fast forward to 2020. During COVID, we began using my mom's leftover Liberty fabrics to sew masks, and that's when inspiration struck.
I was about to start at SMU and wanted to make a few easy, throw-on tops using her fabrics. And just like that, our "Perfect Tank" was born.
Right on cue, Merry called again. This time, she was opening her third store, Clover, a boutique geared toward girls my age. It was the perfect fit, a space for the daughters of Cabana's loyal customers, many of whom had grown up loving my mom's designs. Soon enough, they fell in love with mine, too.
Throughout college, I spotted our Morgan Dress at nearly every formal event. Like my mom in her early days, I named each piece I created after one of my closest friends.
two generations, one world.
Today, Sheridan for Tish is available at Clover, Cabanagirls.com, and For Now in Nantucket. I've also had the opportunity to collaborate with footwear brand Larroudé, bringing my designs into a new creative space.
Together, we've created a one-stop shop where mother-and-daughter collections live side by side, with timeless pieces designed for every generation.
Welcome to our world.
